Cosmetology

Cosmetology program

The Cosmetology program prepares students to enter the world of hair design by teaching the skills necessary for success in a competitive industry. Students learn the basics of cosmetology and the science behind the artistry. Cosmetologist job duties include hair care services such as shampooing, cutting, coloring, styling hair, chemical texture and massaging and treating the scalp. Other services include applying cosmetics and facial treatments, hair removal and nail and skin care services. Students work on clients in a modern, well-equipped salon and are kept up-to-date with the newest techniques, products and equipment. To obtain a Cosmetology license, a student must complete the 1600 hour program and pass the Utah State Cosmetology licensure exam. Licensed Cosmetologists in Utah are authorized to work as Cosmetologists, Nail Technicians, Estheticians and Barbers. Students who complete the Cosmetology program will receive Program Certificates in Nail Technology and Esthetician and a Certificate of Program Completion in Cosmetology.
