- Submit an online application, following the instructions carefully, as student placement is determined by application score, rank, completion timing, and availability.
- Submit current HS transcripts, official or unofficial, and ACT scores, if available. These may be used to consider whether the required testing can be waived.
- Complete testing, if required. Homeschooled students typically require testing.
- Complete the required New Student Orientation (link sent upon submission of application).
- Meet all deadlines before applications are considered COMPLETE.
- Instructor-led classroom hours are regulated by the state; therefore, no absences can be excused for any reason, including medical appointments, school activities, sports, clubs, etc.
- Attendance is mandatory during the first five (5) days of Block 1 in both semesters. Some programs may have additional mandatory dates.
- You must maintain the 85% attendance requirement throughout the program, or risk academic probation or suspension from the program.
- You must be available for a 12- to 15-month continuous commitment, depending on your schedule.
- Refer to the Davis Tech Calendar for school closures and breaks.
- Must be a HS Senior, age 16+ to enroll. Students must apply during the application timeline between MLK Jr. Day in January & Presidents Day in February of their junior year.
- Schedules are full-time only, so confirm with your school that you have room in your senior schedule for daily attendance, including extracurricular activities or sports.
- Students must request a High School Transmittal form from their counselor or CTE office for approval of their schedule and enrollment.
- Open/Close: Applications are open annually between MLK Jr. Day in January & Presidents Day in February ONLY. Due to the competitive nature of our program and small class sizes, we are unable to extend the deadline or make exceptions.
- Completion: Students have 30 days after applications close to complete any remaining requirements, such as assessment testing. Applicants who miss this deadline may still be considered for placement; however, they will be placed at the bottom of the list regardless of their application score.
- Must be a HS Junior/Senior, age 16+ to enroll. Students may apply during their sophomore or junior year.
- Students must request a High School Transmittal form from their counselor or CTE office for approval for their enrollment.
- Nail Tech is NOT a Pre-Cosmetology pathway or shortcut, and will negatively impact your future Cosmetology schedule
- Applications open on MLK Jr. Day in January each year and have an extended application period. Early applications are strongly recommended, as the program remains highly competitive. Postponing your application could delay your eligibility.
For those planning their senior year, know that we support you in having memorable experiences, joining clubs, playing sports, and attending events! However, these are not high school programs; they are college programs that accept high school students. Minors in higher education institutions are treated as adults; therefore, ALL Cosmetology and Master Esthetician students are held to the same standards, including maintaining a minimum 85% attendance requirement and acknowledging that no absences are excused, including medical appointments, school activities, etc.
Both programs are semester-based and continuous, meaning we do not break for the summer, and students should not plan senior trips, family vacations, college leave, or a mission until the program is complete. There are “allowable” absences because life happens; however, exceeding these may result in academic probation, suspension, or withdrawal from the program and the loss of all incomplete semester hours. Absences must be made up before moving to the next block/concept.
