At the Davis Tech Assessment Center, our goal is to assist students in succeeding in their academic studies. We provide a variety of assessments and testing services to both Davis Technical College students and non-students. In addition, we proctor students from other universities, colleges, and employers.

Program Admissions


To enroll in a program at Davis Technical College, students must meet designated program requirements. See program webpage for program specific enrollment requirements.

The Davis Technical College uses the Next Generation Accuplacer MATH (Arithmetic) and READING assessments for Program Admissions as well as program specific assessments. Depending on your program admission requirements, you may be required to complete one or more assessments to meet program admission requirements.

Business Administrative Services

The business exam tests the very basics of what an operating system is. Specifically, Widows terminology (e.g. Start button, taskbar, desktop, File Explorer), Windows File Explorer, the Recycle Bin on a Windows desktop, what a valid email address looks like, how to search for a file on a Windows computer, the basic definition of malware and cookies, giving permissions to other Windows users when you share files and folders, and data storage measurements (e.g. kilobytes, megabytes, etc.).


The IT/Cyber exam measures the applicant’s familiarity in navigating a desktop – openings programs, accessing files and folders, recognizing common internet browsers, and taking screenshots. It also evaluates an applicant’s familiarity with emails and the recognition of icons associated with email functions, such as email attachments.

Architectural and Engineering Design

The Architectural and Engineering Design exam evaluates maneuvering the Windows environment. Topics tested are exploring the Windows desktop, taskbar, and start menu; opening/closing applications; using File Explorer; methods of copying/pasting; screenshots/snipping tool; URL definition; and utilizing the search bar.


Enrollment assessment fees are covered within the Davis Tech Admissions Application fee. The fee must be paid before testing or review of alternate documentation to waive the testing requirement.

All other exams require a non-refundable test and/or proctor fee to be paid during test scheduling to reserve your appointment.


Transcripts from prior academic learning or assessments (such as college or high school), may waive some or all the admissions requirements. A copy of transcripts can be uploaded during the application process. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable in most cases. Transcripts MUST accompany degree certificates submitting for waiving.

  • Cell phones or electronic devices are not permitted in the assessment area
  • All personal items or belongings will be stored in a locker during testing, please keep items to a minimum
  • There is NO food, drinks, gum, etc. allowed in the testing area
  • Assessment fees are NON REFUNDABLE. You may reschedule ONE time without penalty for many exams and proctoring services. PEARSON VUE exams must be rescheduled a minimum of 24-48 hours before testing date

Other Services

The Assessment Center offers proctoring services for business, education, and personal needs. We offer proctoring for both paper/pencil and computer exams. Either the student or the educational institution can make the request following the instructions detailed in the Proctor Request Information sheet. If you have any specific questions that are not detailed within this form, you may contact us at 801-593-2210, or by e-mail at A non-refundable $25.00 proctoring fee, per test (up to four hours), is required at the time of testing. Longer exams may require an additional proctor fee.
