Dear Neighbors,

The following information is intended to keep you informed about recent developments at Davis Technical College and to share important updates regarding campus activities and planning efforts.

College Enrollment: During the 25-26 school year ending June 30,2026, Davis Tech served 7,706 students.

Community Meeting: An open house-style meeting will be held in the Board Room (Room 1003) of the main building from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, to answer questions and receive public input on the attached draft master plan update. Individuals who are unable to attend may also submit questions and comments to me by email. All public comments will be summarized and presented to the Board of Trustees.

A campus master plan is a long-range planning document that provides a vision for how a campus may evolve over time to support its educational, operational, and facility needs. It helps guide future decision-making by identifying opportunities for growth, land use, circulation, open spaces, infrastructure, and potential locations for future buildings and improvements. A master plan provides a framework to help ensure future investments support the college's mission and goals over the coming decades.

A campus master plan is not a construction plan or a commitment to build specific projects. It does not establish immediate construction schedules, funding requests, or final building designs. Likewise, the building locations, layouts, dimensions, and other details shown in a master plan are conceptual and intended for planning purposes only. As projects move forward, they are subject to additional study, design, input, funding availability, regulatory review, and approval processes before any construction occurs.

Master Plan Revision Approval: The updated campus master plan will be presented to the College Board of Trustees for review, board comment, and potential approval at its September 24, 2026, meeting.

East Parking Lot: We anticipate paving of the new east parking lot will be completed within the next week, with final project completion expected by the end of August. Please be aware that traffic on and around Davis Tech Drive may be impacted during the paving operations.

Stormwater Retention Basin Improvement: An improvement project was recently completed at the stormwater retention basin near Main Street. The project raised the elevation of the basin's overflow spillway, increasing the basin's storage capacity and its ability to temporarily retain stormwater runoff during major rainfall events. This enhancement is intended to help manage runoff more effectively and reduce the risk of overflow during extreme storm events, including those commonly referred to as "100-year" storms.

Traffic and Speeding: The streets along 500 East and 250 South are used by students from Davis Technical College, Davis High School, Canyon Heights School, and many other community members. If you observe speeding or other dangerous driving behavior, please contact the Kaysville Police Department (KPD) by calling 911 or the non-emergency line at 801-546-1131. KPD is authorized to enforce traffic laws and issue citations for infractions occurring on Davis Tech property.

Rotomill Relocation: The College continues to explore options for relocating more of the existing pile of asphalt rotomill from the south side of campus to the northeast corner, where it would be spread to reduce dust and mud in an area that currently lacks a functioning sprinkler system. We hope to complete this work before winter; however, the quantity of material and associated costs are significant considerations.
