KAYSVILLE, UT – The Davis Technical College Foundation announced the largest gift in its history today at its annual Life-Changer Luncheon on the Davis Technical College (Davis Tech) campus.
In his closing remarks, Peter Watkins, Davis Technical College Foundation board chair, announced a $6.4 million gift that came from the proceeds of the sale of the Skyline View apartment complex in Layton, Utah.
In 2002, Roy and Elizabeth Simmons donated their ownership interests in the apartments to the Davis Technical College Foundation. This unique gift provided a yearly donation to the Foundation for scholarships and other program needs for over 20 years. The Barlow Corporation, who has managed the Skyline View apartments, facilitated the sale of the complex and recently presented the Foundation with a check for $6.4 million.
“Words cannot capture what this unprecedented gift means to the Davis Technical College community and how it will perpetually benefit our students for generations,” said Darin Brush, Davis Tech president. “We are forever grateful for the vision, generosity, and confidence of the Simmons and Barlow families, to whom we owe so much.”
