KAYSVILLE, UT - On September 28, 2023, Davis Technical College (Davis Tech) was named the 'Employer of the Year’ by Davis Chamber of Commerce at the 2023 Business Awards Banquet. As stated by the Chamber, “These business awards celebrate excellence and showcase organizations that are exceptional in Davis County.”
“Receiving this award is such an honor coming from the Davis Chamber of Commerce, which is the voice of business in our community,” said Davis Tech President Darin Brush. “This is so validating since we’ve been very deliberate about our culture over the last few years. We tell our employees they own it, and if they see something they don’t like, they have the power to change it. That’s important to us since we want our employees to be happy – we want them to thrive. We also know there is a strong correlation between their job satisfaction and the success of our students.”
During the evening event at the Davis Conference Center, the Chamber spotlighted Davis Tech and shared feedback from individuals within the organization. Victor Cruz, Basic Needs Advisor, said, “My favorite thing (about Davis Tech) is the fact that I get to grow, not only personally, but professionally. They’ve given me the wings to fly and be myself. It’s like a family.” Keri Galbraith, Facility Services Technician, added, “I’ve never seen the breadth and scope of this many great people in one place. It’s where I intend to stay; it’s that good a place.”
Currently, Davis Tech has 232 full-time and 237 part-time employees who serve approximately 7,000 students in 37 hands-on programs. Nathan Meyers sums it up this way: “I really believe in the mission statement ‘We Change Lives’ and everyone I work with is on board with that.”
