Introduction to Information Technology provides a professional overview of using computers. You will be introduced to computers, including their history, hardware, operating systems, program languages, software, databases, networking, data storage, and system security. During this course, you will perform essential IT tasks commonly performed by advanced end-users and entry-level IT professionals. As part of this course, you will complete the current CompTIA IT Fundamentals® exam.

This course will introduce students to the fundamentals of the Linux operating system. Students will be exposed to Linux terminal command-line functions and will be expected to configure a Linux machine throughout the course. Students will describe and demonstrate the use of packages, file system structure, troubleshooting commands, and permissions. This course prepares students for the LPI Linux essentials industry certification exam.

This course gives students a fundamental introduction to computer networks. Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), wireless devices, routers, switches, and communication protocols will be introduced and evaluated.

This course introduces you to Virtualization. Through targeted reading material and hands-on labs, you will first explore what virtualization is as well as the importance of a hypervisor. Next, you will examine how to install, configure, and maintain your own virtual machines. The course will then wrap up with a discussion on availability, applications, and virtual appliances including their role in virtualization. Virtualization Fundamentals prepares you with the knowledge and skills to leverage the use of virtual machines in upcoming coursework, future industry employment, as well as the ability to create their own home built virtual lab environment for use throughout this program and your career.

CompTIA A+ Essentials is designed to explore the physical and functional characteristics of computer devices and components as well as trends in computer architecture. Emphasis will be placed on configuring a microcomputer, troubleshooting, device and memory management, virtual memory and paging, file management, and performance analysis. As part of this course, you will be required to complete the current CompTIA A+ Core 1 certification exam.

CompTIA A+ Practical Applications is designed to teach common components and features of Microsoft, Mac, and Linux operating systems. Troubleshooting of PC, laptop, and mobile devices using hands-on projects and labs. It covers skills such as installation, configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and networking. As part of this course, you will be required to complete the current CompTIA A+ Core 2 certification exam.

Workplace Success is designed to help students develop essential work habits and attitudes as well as human-relation skills needed to maintain gainful and satisfying employment. Topics include common challenges faced in the workplace, such as presenting yourself professionally, developing a professional work ethic, developing interpersonal skills, navigating office politics successfully, and planning and managing your career.

Business English emphasizes essentials of business English. Throughout this course, you will study writing, sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and proofreading.

Scripting Fundamentals introduces basic programming concepts from the perspective of systems administrators. Coursework provides the opportunity to use Python and Microsoft PowerShell to manipulate data through basic programming concepts and techniques, such as variables and data structures (arrays and objects), loops, and conditionals. During this course, you will explore the practical use and management of scripting to perform system administration functions and explore security exploits and practices.

Microsoft 365 Fundamentals explores the options available in Microsoft 365 and the benefits of adopting cloud services, the Software as a Service (SaaS) cloud model, and implementing Microsoft 365 cloud service. During your time in this course, you will examine collaboration solutions that drive organization productivity, such as Teams, Sharepoint, Calendaring, and Email. You will also study the Office 365 Admin center and user portal capabilities, security, compliance management, and more. As part of this course, you will be required to complete the current Microsoft Fundamentals 365 Certification Exam.

CompTIA Network+ covers terminology and networking concepts including design, topology, implementation, cabling, connecting network components, signal transmission and network adapter cards. Throughout this course, you will examine the OSI and 802 networking models within the network environment which demonstrate how networks send data. You will also study architectures as well as administration, support, security, fault tolerant systems, wide area network and troubleshooting network problems. At the conclusion of this course, you will be prepared for the CompTIA Network+ certification exam.

This course introduces students to various areas of physical and virtual security. Common network security devices such as NIDS, HIDS, HIPS, NIPS, routers, and firewalls will be introduced, and common configuration standards will be explored. Protocol analyzers, packet sniffers, and other security software tools will be introduced and utilized in various course exercises. This course will prepare students for the CompTIA Security+ industry certification exam.

ITEC 2400 provides a high-level introduction to Amazon Web Services (AWS), a leading platform in the Cloud Computing infrastructure sector. You will be introduced to and interact with the major components of the AWS platform. This course prepares students to successfully sit and pass the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. After completing this course, the student will be able to effectively demonstrate an overall knowledge of the AWS Cloud independent of a specific job role.

The first course in the 3-course CCNA series is designed to prepare you for entry-level Networking roles. Cisco Certified Network Associate I introduces architectures, models, protocols, and networking elements – functions needed to support the operations and priorities of Fortune 500 companies to small innovative retailers. The core skills you will learn will include building simple LANs, perform basic configurations for routers and switches, implement IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes, configure routers, switches, end devices to provide access to local and remote network resources and to enable end-to-end connectivity between remote devices, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills using real equipment and Cisco Packet Tracer, and configuring and troubleshooting connectivity of a small network using security best practices.

The second course in the 3-course Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) series builds on the concepts and skills acquired from ITEC 2765 – Cisco Certified Network Associate I and is designed to prepare you for Network Technician roles. CCNA II focuses on switching technologies and router operations that support small-to-medium business networks, including Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) and security concepts. In this course you’ll perform basic network configuration and troubleshooting, identify, and mitigate Local Area Network (LAN) security threats, and configure and secure a basic WLAN. The core skills you will learn includes working with routers, switches, and wireless devices to configure and troubleshoot Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Wireless LANs and Inter-VLAN routing, configure and troubleshoot redundancy on a switched network using Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and EtherChannel, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills using real equipment and Cisco Packet Tracer, and explain how to support available and reliable networks using dynamic addressing and first-hop redundancy protocols.

The third and final course in the 3-course CCNA series builds on the concepts and skills acquired from ITEC 2775 – Cisco Certified Network Associate II and is designed to prepare you for Network Analyst and Network Engineer roles. Cisco Certified Network Associate III describes the architectures and considerations related to designing, securing, operating, and troubleshooting enterprise networks. It covers wide area network (WAN) technologies and quality of service (QoS) mechanisms used for secure remote access along with the introduction of software-defined networking, virtualization, and automation concepts that support the digitalization of networks. The core skills you will learn include working with routers and switches using OSPF in point-to-point and multiaccess networks, mitigate threats and enhance network security using access control lists and security best practices, develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills using real equipment and Cisco Packet Tracer, and understanding virtualization, SDN, and how APIs and configuration management tools enable network automation. Upon successful completion of the 3-course CCNA series, students will be prepared to take the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) industry certification exam.

This course provides students a thirty (30) hour opportunity to continue their learning in a specific area, explore an area which is not currently available as part of their current training plan, or otherwise not covered by the ongoing Cybersecurity course offerings. Coursework will consist of instructional activity and/or a significant professional project that is logically consistent with the content of the student’s program of study or a special project guided and evaluated by a member of the Cybersecurity faculty.

This course provides students a sixty (60) hour opportunity to continue their learning in a specific area, explore an area which is not currently available as part of their current training plan, or otherwise not covered by the ongoing Cybersecurity Program course offerings. Coursework will consist of instructional activity and/or a significant professional project that is logically consistent with the content of the student’s program of study or a special project guided and evaluated by a member of the Cybersecurity faculty.

This course provides students a ninety (90) hour opportunity to continue their learning in a specific area, explore an area which is not currently available as part of their current training plan, or otherwise not covered by the ongoing Cybersecurity Program course offerings. Coursework will consist of instructional activity and/or a significant professional project that is logically consistent with the content of the student’s program of study or a special project guided and evaluated by a member of the Cybersecurity faculty.

Job Seeking Skills explores how to prepare and successfully apply to potential career opportunities. During this course, you will be presented with essential job-seeking skills needed to find gainful employment.

The Cybersecurity program provides students with the skills required to find employment in the rapidly changing field of Cybersecurity, one of the fastest growing industries in the world. Students have the opportunity to develop, defend, and protect networks and information systems against cyber-attacks while managing hardware, operating systems, local and wide-area networks, enterprise security, computer forensics, vulnerability assessment, security compliance, and information assurance. Once students have developed the foundational Information Technology (IT) skills, students directly apply classroom theory to the hands-on configuration of hardware, including: workstations, servers, virtual servers, switches, routers, VPNs, firewalls and other relevant equipment. Many of the courses prepare students for industry certifications from organizations such as: Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, and the Linux Professional Institute.
