Program / Admission Details

Program Description
The CNC Machining program students utilize industry-standard tools, equipment, and procedures as entry-level machinists. Students study blueprint reading, inspection, part design, CNC operation, and CNC programming. The program offers training in basic turning and milling processes, related math skills, precision measuring tools, and mechanical inspection methods to produce precision parts with extremely close tolerances. Students are provided with a learning environment similar to what they will encounter in small shops and large production firms throughout the country.
Admission Requirements

This program is open to qualified high school and adult students who meet the following program requirements:

  • ADULT STUDENTS: Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Must be at least 16 years of age AND be in 11th or 12th grade
Placement Assessment Requirements

Transcripts for prior academic learning or assessments (such as college or high school), may waive some or all of the admission requirements. Copies should be emailed to Admissions@davistech.edu. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable in most cases

The following tests are required for this program:


  • High School student applicants must submit transcripts for ALL PROGRAMS. Cumulative GPA of 2.0 and successful completion of Math 2 (B or higher) and English 2 (B or higher) is required to waive testing for high school students. Some programs have higher GPA requirements. Student’s must have the minimum required grade for two quarters or one semester in the same school year.
  • Placement testing is waived for students with a Davis Tech Certificate of Completion at an equivalent level or higher, or an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited college

Transfer Options

Following the completion of this Davis Tech program and after being admitted to the partner institution, your Davis Tech certificate of completion will be converted to as many as 30 credit hours toward an Associate of Applied Science at any Utah colleges and universities.
