CNC Machining Enhanced Training for the Visually Impaired

The vision of Davis Technical College is to “be an innovative leader in delivering exceptional technical training that supports economic development.” There is no better example of this vision than our new CNC Machining training program for students who are blind or visually impaired. Matt Winslow, one of our instructors, took on the task of making CNC Enhanced come to life. He worked with innovative and forward-thinking companies in aerospace and medical job shops to ensure jobs were available for these kinds of trained workers. He knew he could find students willing to take on the challenge but wasn’t 100% sure the program would work. We started this program with three amazing students - Marley, Annie and Landon. These students overcame great obstacles to attend each week and were incredibly grateful for this opportunity. Watch as they share their stories about what it takes to be a machinist in an ever-growing industry.
