COSM 1130 Cosmetology Hair I135 Hours
Cosmetology Hair I explores the history of cosmetology, how to communicate effectively with clients, and basic anatomy. During this course, you will receive training on how to recognize and prevent infections, the properties of the hair and scalp, the principles of hair design, and the basics of chemistry and chemical texture services. You will study and practice services such as shampooing, braiding, and braided extensions. You will also be introduced to the history of men’s grooming and study straight razor shaving techniques. Throughout the course, you will examine how to build a clientele, develop effective working habits, be a salon team player, and demonstrate the qualities necessary to succeed in the profession.
COSM 1140 Cosmetology Hair II135 Hours
Cosmetology Hair II continues to examine the art of hairstyling, wigs, hair cutting, and hair coloring. Throughout the course, you will explore how to build a clientele, develop effective working habits, be a salon team player, and demonstrate the qualities necessary to succeed in the profession. You will also be introduced to an in-depth look at what it takes to be a business owner and the laws that govern the industry.
COSM 1205 Salon Preparation30 Hours
Salon Preparation is constructed to prepare you to work in the salon floor environment. You will study additional information and services designed to prepare you for the workplace. You will combine the previous practical skills you developed in the classroom and will build a solid foundation to begin working with paying clients. You will need live models every day for this course - please start reaching out to potential clients before class starts.

Students will learn to use effective study habits and strategies for remembering information found in their textbooks and heard in-class lectures. Students will also learn to use a strategy for reading and taking notes from textbooks, taking notes in class, and learn effective strategies for taking the five types of tests most frequently given by teachers.
