Heating and Air Conditioning

Heating and Air Conditioning program

Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technicians are highly skilled at the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating and cooling systems around the world. Technicians will develop the cognitive ability to read schematic diagrams, blueprints, and complex instructions in order to properly install, troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of equipment. Technicians must demonstrate the safe use of hand and power tools, ladders, refrigerant gauges, and specific electronic meters. In this exciting field, students will practice on many types of systems ranging from small window units to commercial rooftop units. Program graduates can find employment with small residential heating and air conditioning shops, commercial repair and maintenance contractors, as well as large industrial firms throughout the country. Upon completion of the program, students will be qualified to take the EPA 608 Refrigerant Handler Certification Exam, Rocky Mountain Gas Association Exam, certified to use CSST natural gas tubing through TracPipe, and be well prepared to take the Industry Competency Exam (ICE), or North American Technician Excellence (NATE) exam.
